Origin:
Santini is a variety of chrysanthemums bred specifically for cut flower production. Chrysanthemums, belonging to the Asteraceae family, have their origins in Asia, particularly in China and Japan.
Growth:
Santini chrysanthemums are perennial, herbaceous plants with an upright and bushy habit. They can reach heights of 30 to 90 cm and produce numerous flower stalks that are well suited for cut flowers.
Leaves:
The leaves of Santini chrysanthemums are green, pinnate and have a slightly leathery texture. They are arranged alternately and contribute to the bushy appearance of the plant.
Blossom:
Santini chrysanthemums are known for their small but dense and long-lasting flowers, which come in a variety of colors such as white, yellow, pink, red and purple. The flowers have a simple to semi-double structure and appear in dense clusters at the ends of the stems. They typically bloom in the fall but can be produced year-round under controlled conditions.
Location:
Santini chrysanthemums prefer a sunny location with well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. They thrive best in temperate climates and require a spot protected from strong winds.
Care:
Santini chrysanthemums require regular watering to keep the soil evenly moist but without causing waterlogging. Regular fertilization during the growing season promotes flower growth and plant health. Removing spent flowers and pruning regularly will help keep the plant in shape and extend the flowering period. If necessary, plants can be divided in late winter or early spring to maintain vigor and avoid overcrowding.
