Origin:
The pincushion, also known as Protea Nutans, is a species of plant in the family Proteaceae and is originally from South Africa, where it is native to the fynbos regions.
Growth:
The pincushion is an evergreen shrub that usually reaches 1 to 2 meters in height. It has a bushy habit with dense, branched branches and long, narrow leaves.
Leaves:
The leaves of the pincushion are lanceolate and have a leathery texture. They are dark green and grow in spirals around the branches.
Blossom:
The showy flowers of the pincushion are in the form of round, spherical heads covered with countless tiny flowers. They can come in different colors such as pink, red, orange and white.
Location:
Pincushions grow best in sunny locations with well-drained soil. They are particularly well suited to dry, sandy soils and are typically found in the Mediterranean climates of South Africa.
Care:
Pincushions are relatively low-maintenance plants that require little attention once established. They prefer regular watering during the growing season, but they can tolerate drought well. Light pruning after flowering can promote growth and keep the plant compact.
