Origin:
The daffodil (Narcissus pseudonarcissus) is a perennial bulbous plant and belongs to the amaryllis family (Amaryllidaceae). It is native to Europe and grows wild in forests, meadows and gardens.
Growth
Daffodils have narrow, linear leaves that grow from a bulb. They produce single or multiple flowers per stem and reach a height of 20 to 40 centimeters.
Leaves
The leaves of daffodils are grass-like and have a smooth, shiny texture. They grow in clumps around the stems and often persist long after flowering.
Blossom:
The distinctive flowers of daffodils have a trumpet-shaped structure with six petals. They appear bright yellow in spring and exude a pleasant, sweet scent.
Location:
Daffodils prefer a sunny to partially shaded location with well-drained soil. They are relatively undemanding and thrive in most soil types as long as they are well drained.
Care:
Daffodils require regular watering as they grow, especially during dry periods. Wilted flowers should be removed to encourage new blooms to form, and leaves should only be removed after they have completely died back to strengthen the bulbs for the next season.
