Origin:
The Alsca lily comes from the temperate climate zones of South America, particularly Chile, Brazil and Peru. It is also known as Alstroemeria, named after the Swedish botanist Clas Alströmer.
Growth:
The alkaline lily is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows from rhizomes. It forms upright stems that can reach a height of up to 1 meter.
Leaves:
The leaves of the alkaline lily are lanceolate and grow in a spiral arrangement along the stems. They are often dark green and have a shiny texture.
Blossom:
The flowers of the Alsca lily are the most striking feature of the plant. They are funnel-shaped with distinctive spots and strokes in a variety of colors including white, yellow, orange, pink, red and purple. The flowering period usually extends over several weeks in summer.
Location:
The Alsca lily prefers sunny to partially shaded locations with well-drained soil. It thrives best in humus-rich soil that is sufficiently moist but not too wet.
Care:
The Alsca lily is a relatively easy plant to care for. It requires regular watering, especially during dry periods, and can benefit from annual spring fertilization. Wilted inflorescences should be removed regularly to encourage new blooms to form, and plants can be pruned in the fall to improve their appearance.
