Origin:
Celosia is originally from the tropical regions of Africa, Asia and America.
Growth:
Depending on the variety, celosia plants can grow either upright or bushy. They typically reach a height of 30 to 90 centimeters.
Leaves:
Celosia's leaves are often elongated, sometimes serrated, and can be a variety of colors, including green, red, and bronze, depending on the variety.
Blossom:
Celosia produces showy inflorescences in a variety of shapes, including plume-like inflorescences resembling flames as well as compact, spherical inflorescences. The flowers can come in a variety of colors such as red, orange, yellow, pink and white.
Location:
Celosia prefers a sunny location with well-drained soil. They are relatively heat and drought tolerant and thrive in warm climates. However, they can also be grown in temperate climates as long as they receive enough sunlight.
Care:
Celosia requires regular watering, especially during dry periods. However, they should not be overwatered as this can lead to root rot. Regular fertilization during the growing season promotes healthy growth and flower formation. Wilted inflorescences should be removed to prolong flowering. Celosia is also a good cut flower and can be used in bouquets and dry arrangements.
