Origin:
Anthuriums originally come from the tropical regions of Central and South America and the Caribbean.
Growth:
Anthuriums are evergreen plants that usually have a bushy growth habit. Depending on the variety, they can grow between 30 cm and 90 cm high.
Leaves:
The leaves of anthuriums are often leathery, shiny and heart-shaped or lanceolate. They can appear in various shades of green as well as reds and whites, depending on the variety.
Blossom:
The striking inflorescences of anthuriums are actually bracts that form around the spadix. These bracts can come in different colors such as red, pink, white or green and give the plant its characteristic appearance.
Location:
Anthuriums thrive best in a bright location, but without direct sunlight. A place with bright, indirect light is ideal for their growth. They also prefer high humidity, so it is beneficial to place them in bathrooms or kitchens. However, they can also thrive in other rooms if sprayed regularly.
Care:
Anthuriums require regular watering, but be careful not to keep the soil constantly wet as this can lead to root rot. It is better to allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Additionally, occasional misting of the leaves is beneficial to increase humidity. Regular fertilization during the growing season with a balanced fertilizer promotes healthy growth and flower formation. Anthuriums should also be regularly cleaned of dead leaves or flowers to maintain the health of the plant.
