Origin:
Jasmine (Jasminum) originally comes from the temperate regions of Eurasia, particularly China and Persia. However, there are many species and varieties native to different parts of the world.
Growth:
The growth of jasmine varies depending on the species and variety. There are creeping species that can be used as ground cover, as well as upright shrubs and climbing plants that require climbing aids.
Leaves:
The leaves of jasmine are usually dark green, shiny and lanceolate in shape. They are often arranged opposite each other and can have slightly different shapes and sizes depending on the species.
Blossom:
Jasmine is known for its fragrant flowers, which are often white or cream, but can also be yellow, pink or red, depending on the species and variety. The flowers can be single or double and often appear in clusters or panicles.
Location:
Jasmine prefers sunny to partially shaded locations with well-drained soil. Some species, particularly climbing jasmine, require a trellis or support structure to grow and climb.
Care:
Jasmine is generally an easy plant to care for. It requires regular watering, especially during dry periods. Light pruning is recommended in spring.
