Flowers for birth
Delivery directly to the ward room from KSW
For several years we were able to offer our flowers directly at KSW. The pandemic has changed everything a bit and we are now relying on direct deliveries to the Winterthur Cantonal Hospital with our in-house couriers.
The flowers are delivered directly to the patient's ward room so that the bouquets, flower arrangements and roses arrive safely and on time. Delivery usually takes place between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Choose a bouquet of flowers, a flower arrangement or something from our suggestions for flowers for recovery or flowers for birth in our shop, write a greeting card and simply select "Delivery to KSW" in the ordering process.
History of the Winterthur Cantonal Hospital
The Winterthur Cantonal Hospital (KSW) provides medical care in the Winterthur region in the Canton of Zurich. With around 500 beds, the public institution is the tenth largest hospital in Switzerland and treats around 200,000 inpatients and outpatients every year.
The “Residents’ Hospital” with 90 beds, which was built under the direction of the Winterthur architect Emil Kaspar Studer and the Winterthur city architect Joseph Bösch and opened in November 1876, was taken over by the Canton of Zurich ten years later and renamed the Winterthur Cantonal Hospital. Over the years, a campus with numerous different buildings that housed a wide variety of disciplines grew in the center of the city of Winterthur. In 1978, the KSW received the status of a central hospital with supra-regional tasks.
The hospital has six birthing rooms and 15 operating rooms (as of 2017). In 2019, 3,294 employees (2,465 full-time positions) ensured that 28,024 inpatients were discharged. In the same year, 125,605,410 tax points were earned with outpatient services and 1,781 children, including twins and triplets, were born. With a case mix index (CMI) of 1.033, the patients spent an average of 4.8 days in the cantonal hospital.
